22.753066, 120.754527Really beautiful canyon with a view of the mountains around it visible nearly the whole time. We went during the dry season and the first 20 minutes or more of the trace actually had no water. However, once we got further up there were nice pools and areas of flowing water. On top of this, the final waterfall was great and had some nice spots on the ... side to climb up on the rocks if that's your jam. Quite a few people's cars' tire get stabbed here when they are off to river trace or hike, especially in peak seasons. The best way to prevent this is probably use the local's serice. -

22.822660, 120.647702A perfect place to go river tracing. Tons of waterfalls and areas to practice climbing, and a near-endless supply of emerald blue pools perfect for swimming in. There are a fair number of people at the start point though we only saw one other group more than 300m up and no one after 500m or so. I should note that we went the morning after a big st ... orm and the water was moving quite quickly in some places. Another group we saw was forced to turn back as some of their members were not comfortable going further. Fortunately, their "leader" worked with us to set some ropes up and get us and himself across the worst of it. We wanted to make it right to the end of the river, however, were blocked around 200m from the final waterfall. We went up the mountain on our left and down to the road on the other side of it and walked out. This involved quite a few scraps and a pretty steep scramble. Either be prepared for some trailless Mountian bushwacking or have enough time to double back if you hit the endpoint we have as a GPS. 25.122280, 121.879145A short fairly easy river trace located within an hour of Taipei. The river and surrounding rocks contain tons of pretty colors. In the end, you will be rewarded with a beautiful waterfall sitting behind a perfect swimming pool. Great place for people without much experience to get a taste of river tracing. The first half of the trace is enjoyable t ... hough nothing special. The second half has some great views of the surrounding mountains and feels much more "natural". When you park you can either jump over the fence and find a way into the river on the other side, or you can cross the highway and enter from where the river meets the ocean. It is possible to climb past the waterfall I ended at. It would take some decent climbing skills though and falling would suck so a helmet wouldn't hurt.
