Go along the sidewalk along the river from the village, and you will find a damaged steel ladder leading to the valley by a abandoned house. -

24.02403,121.16766The creek is the source of hot spring water for the campsites in Chunyang(春陽部落) Tribe. Much part of the water temperature in the river is a little warm around 33~36 degree. It doesn't give you the enjoyable experience in a real natural hot spring, but you don't feel cold when being in the pools in this creek. The creeks have several big warm pools w ... here you can jump, a nice tiny valley, and 2 waterfalls. The creek looks ugly and disappointing because there are thousands of abandoned hot spring water pipes left in the creek, and the local doesn't seem to bother to clean them up at all. It has the vibe of post-apocalypse sci-fi movies like ruined cities in Matrix or Blade Runner 2049. -

24.66278,121.3548Ghost Waterfall and Shuiliandong Waterfall are in Taiyao River. The water slide is between them. The river is very slippery even to river tracing boots. A downpour might cause a flood in the river, and there has been incidents that visitors got stuck and called 119. Ghost Waterfall got its name because it is said that the sound of the waterfall can ... be heard yet it can not be seen. This is true in a way. Most visitors can only see the waterfall from its top rather than its whole shape from the bottom. To get to the bottom, you need to take a detour on the trail to the mainstream(Dahan River/ 大漢溪), and then river trace to the bottom of the waterfall from the fork. Shuiliandong Waterfall has a hole behind its water curtain, and you can swim to it. The waterfall is actually a giant dam. Its big size and rectangular shape make it a nice tourist spot. Shuiliandong is a term in Mandarin for any holes behind water curtain of a waterfall, so there are shuiliandongs or shuiliandong waterfalls everywhere in Taiwan. A common mistake is that Ghost Waterfall and Shuiliandong Waterfall are usually mixed up. The mistakes can be found on Google Map and local news. The former got its name for the saying that it is unable to be seen, while the latter is a giant dam with a hole in it. The time from the basketball parking lot(Starting GPS) to the top of Ghost Waterfall is around 30 mins. Mosquitoes on the bamboo trail are large and fierce.
